Obituary
Thomas A. Kelly, 64, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2019. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 39 years, Brenda Kay Kelly; daughters, Jill Katherine Arseneau (John), Jamie Lynn Horbatak (Christopher) and Joanne Elizabeth Kelly; grandchildren, Luke and Kate Arseneau and Hannah and Harper Horbatak; sisters, Mary Margaret Valcik (Louis) and Patricia Ruth Grabowski (Gary) and numerous nieces and nephews. Thomas proudly served as a police officer for 10 years in McDonough County, Illinois and the Oak Lawn Police Dept. before joining the U.S. Secret Service. He was a special agent for the U.S. Secret Service for over 24 years and retired as the Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Field Office. When Thomas was not working, he enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Thomas also enjoyed golfing with friends, fixing things around the house, sport shooting and spending time with the family dog, Jonas. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10). His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made through his personal memorial page at https://inmemof.org/thomas-kelly.

My deepest condolences to the Kelly family. Tom was one of the best people that I have ever met. His friendship is something that I will treasure forever. His dedication to his family and friends was second to none. We were friends for a very long time and I will miss him more than I could ever say. I will miss our conversations, his guidance, his humor and just being with him. Tom had that effect on everyone. The annual golf trips will never be the same. I was blessed to have a friend like Tom and I am a better person for knowing him. You will always be in my heart my friend. God bless you.

Having had the pleasure of knowing Tom for the past 15 years we would like to express our thanks for his guidance and commitment to “doing the right thing”. Tom represents the attributes admired by all. RESPECT, LOYALTY, HONESTY, DEDICATION were the guidelines for his life. To the Kelly family… thanks for sharing Tom. and know he will have a place in Heaven (that serves beer and allows cigar smoking!) Your loss is shared by all who knew him.
