Important Update Regarding COVID-19
Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service is constantly monitoring the rapid changes of COVID-19 (Corona Virus)
We are following instructions by the Governor of Virginia, The CDC, The National Funeral Directors Association, The Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Regulatory Support Services.
The following outlines the Phase 3 procedure in compliance with the Governor’s current order of 50% capacity.
As of May 15, 2020, Governor Northam has begun to allow some businesses and places of worship and or ceremony to operate at 50% occupancy. We are committed to the families we serve and the communities that support them. We ask that families consider that the type of gatherings they hold to be ever mindful of those who attend, and their health and well-being. We also ask that you refrain from hugging or shaking hands and practice safe social distancing.
What this means for services:
As of May 26, 2020, Governor Northam has put an order in place requiring masks to be worn when in public buildings. In order to protect the vulnerable and high-risk members of the community, it is highly recommended that face masks be worn. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide masks for visitors; please utilize your own. Failure to use a mask while in our establishment will be an assumed release of liability.
All Morrissett Staff will be wearing face masks at all times.
We have placed hand sanitizer and polite reminders throughout the building to assist with cleanliness. We have upgraded the air filters on all of our HVAC systems to promote cleaner air exchange. If you are not in attendance and would like to pass condolences or have your name added to the guest book, please call us and we will assist or utilize the online condolences at Morrissett.com.
Once again, we ask you to practice safe social distancing, and to please not attend if you are ill or at high risk.
Families that maybe in need of our services in the coming weeks, please know that we will care for you and your loved ones with the utmost respect and assist you in the options we feel are safe and that comply with the Governor of Virginia’s limitations and the CDC.
This can mean public or private family services. We promise to work with you as families and your comfort level and desires to honor your loved one.
Please be aware that no coffee, cookies, or cups of water will be available to any guest or families. We will have bottled water available at your request.
As we monitor this ever rapidly changing situation, we will continue to provide updates in regard to the measures we are taking. We appreciate the support and kindness shown during this difficult time. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact us at 804-275-7828 or e-mail to Staff@Morrissett.com

My deepest sympathies go out to the family of Pat Coyle. The last time I saw Pat he was a small boy. Since I got to know him on Facebook. We played " Mafia Wars and I remember Pat was always sending me things on Mafia Wars. I thought " What a giving guy? I saw pictures of him and found out about his family and even his about illness. I remember on facebook someone said: Patrick I never knew of your illness. His remark I remember was " It’s all good. I have gone looking for comments and things he might have said on facebook. Patrick was a very brave honorable man who I will truly miss.

Although I signed earlier, there are some words that I posted to Patrick’s online page that I would like to place in this guest book as well:
"If there’s any truth to the phrase that "The Good Die Young" then I also believe that God takes and holds the souls of the Soldiers, both young and old, very close to his side.
For if the Soldier is brave enough to protect both the good and the wretched alike here on Earth… then God knows that Heaven’s guard towers are manned by the very best that this world can offer."
We are all better for having known you in this world… and if we’re lucky enough, we will know you in the next.

Although I did not know Pat Coyle well, I did serve with him in combat and knew him well enough to state that he was a fine officer and a good person. He will be missed.
