Obituary

Godsey, Cassie Michelle, 34, of Midlothian, Va., lost her battle with addiction, freeing her spirit on January 22, 2021. She was preceded in death by her guardian angel, Denise Lewis; and many of her friends. Those left behind to celebrate her spirit of life are her parents, Patricia and William Godsey; “truly, amazing, awesome” sister, Kristen Godsey; Granny and Papa, Nancy and William Jeffrey; grandmother, Mary Holloway; the many aunts, uncles, and cousins she longed to be close with; and those close friends she deeply loved ““ Jessup, Will, Ian, Lyn, and a new special girlfriend, Rebecca. “Sassy Cassie” always tried to create her own footprint, not conforming to the norm and following her own adventurous spirit; loving fearlessly, and always fighting for the underdog. A Celebration of Life will be held at McShin Foundation, Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church, 2300 Dumbarton Rd., Richmond, Va. 23227 at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021. A Facebook Live feed will also be available. In lieu of flowers, give to the McShin Foundation; or, be Cassie”™s voice: call your congressman, neighbor, employer, and become involved in the fight for lives in this desperate battle

  3. My love and prayers and my deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Cassie. We went to x-ray school together and were great friends in school. She has the biggest smile and the kindest and most gentle heart. She touched so many lives and brought so much joy. We kept in touch some over the years and I wish I had gotten to see her more often. She will always have a place in my heart. Rest Easy with the Lord Cassie.
