Obituary

George Lewis Mahler, went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 26, 2020 at the age of 74. He was born December 22, 1945 in Charlotte Courthouse, VA to Henry and Blanch Mahler. He attended school in Charlotte County, VA and graduated from Randolph Henry High School. George graduated with honors from Danville Community College in the Heating and Air-Conditioning program. After graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army and trained in Columbia, S.C. and was sent to Chu Lai, Vietnam. Upon his return he married Bonne’ Morgan in 1970. He worked in the HVAC field for a few years and then took a teaching position at Paul D. Camp Community College in Franklin, VA. He initiated the HVAC program and taught it as well. He also taught the classes at the local Men’s Correctional Center which earned him the ‘Teacher of the Year’ award. Eventually he took a position on the Distribution side where he was quickly promoted to Sales Manager for Bohn Heat Transfer in Danville, Ill. and for Russell Corporation in Brea, CA. George was active in the Dale Ruritan Club of Chesterfield, VA and was a member of Branch’s Baptist Church, a founding member and Treasurer of Swift Creek Community Church and most recently a member at Passion Community Church. George’s reputation was larger than life and was always willing to help and would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Need a screw? A bolt? A power tool? George would have you covered and then some! He loved people fiercely and deeply which will be his lasting legacy. He was an avid animal lover that enjoyed spending time with his buddies hunting and fishing. George earned the name Bull Dog which he relentlessly lived up to. His favorite place to be was at Lake Gaston tinkering around on a boat with his buddies while they all gave their opinion on what the problem was, or telling all the best jokes, and cruising on his pontoon catching the latest sunsets with family and friends. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, Henry and Blanch Mahler; brothers Henry J. and William R. Mahler; sister Josephine Connor; and his 2 special 4-legged dogters, Penny and Peanut. He is survived by one sister Selma Mahler of Lynchburg, VA. He leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years Bonne’ Morgan Mahler; son Jonathan Powell Mahler (Pam) of Richmond, VA; daughter, Leah Mahler Bowles (Kevin); grandson (Papa George’s pride and joy) Carter Lane Bowles; one grand-dogter Dixie Belle all of Chester, VA. Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Sunday, December 13 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. 1. Dear Bonne,
Debbie and I are so incredibly sorry about George. Our time at Swift Creek was so enriched by both you and George. He was a great man with a soft spot and a heart of gold. I know that God has him at work because George told him to!
Please contact us when you feel up to it. Debbie would love to catch up with you and to get your address.
    With much love,
    Matt and Debbie
