Obituary

Riddle Jr., Karl “Bubba” Waverly, 50, of Chesterfield, Va., departed this world peacefully on December 21, 2020 to join his Lord and Savior (he accepted Jesus on 11/8/2020) after a courageous battle with cancer. Our loving, husband, father, brother, PawPaw, uncle, and friend reluctantly bid farewell to this life. Karl also known as Bubba and PawPaw made this world a better place and was always the brightest light in the room. He was the life of the party and there was never a dull moment. In 50 brief years, he lived life to the fullest and each day as though it was his last. He loved Bob Seger, Pool, NASCAR, gambling, traveling and most of all his Family and Friends. He graduated in 1988 from Lloyd C. Bird. He worked in construction and maintenance for over 30 years, the majority of which at Expert Construction. For the last 3.5 years at Chesterfield County Public Schools as a Building Operations Supervisor at Gordon and Providence Elementary Schools. This was his dream job which he was very passionate about. He was always willing to help others with anything; contributing his personal best and attention to detail to achieve quality and personal pride in a job well done. In his words, “It”™s not what you take with you when you go; it”™s what you leave behind”. His life and influence will forever be remembered in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Linda Powell; step-father, C.B. Lawson; grandmothers, Grace Violet “Snookum” Jones, Nora Louise “Nannie” Riddle; grandfather, Ira Lee Whitmore Sr. He is survived by his loving, devoted and self-less caretaker; best friend and wife, Ann Rice Riddle; son, Christopher Riddle (Alexis); grandchild, Landon Riddle; father, Karl Riddle, Sr. (Barbara), step-father, Kenny Powell; sister, Tammy Kirby (Frank); step-sister, Amber Sheffield (Jeff); nephews/niece Grayson, Kasey, Bradley, Hannah; in-laws, Charles and Linda Rice; a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and sister by heart Heather Crisp. Karl was a brother to many and a friend to all. We extend our deepest gratitude to VCU Medical Center for their support in our hours of need. Our heartfelt thanks to all who participated in the Pool Benefit Tournament, #RiddleStrong Stew Crew, Riddle Rally, Go Fund Me page, donations, and sales of t-shirts and bracelets. Visitation/Viewing will be held under current COVID regulations with a receiving line on January 22, 2021 5-8 p.m at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road. 1. What a great out going person to know in life, Karl was someone the first time you got to know him you had to love him. I am so glad to have been part of Karl’s life from the great music of Bob Seger. My heart breaks for Ann and Karl’s family in this time of loss. You will all ways be with us each and every day my friend.

  2. Tony Capers says:

I am so heat broken to hear of his passing I spent many of weekends with Karl at Moose Lodge Pool Tournaments. He had a laugh that was contagious and always was kind He did not see the color of a person only the content of their character The world lost a little bit of its brightness with his passing. I will always laugh when I think of my memory of Karl He would have a cup in his hand joking with everyone shooting pool .. yelling out loud…. Ten dollars the bet God speed sir .. God called an Angel on earth back to heaven

  3. Thoughts and prayers to the family during this trying time.

  4. Missing you buddy

  5. In times like this I like to try and think of the biggest thing you have learned from someone… Karl’s heart was as big as any. Him and I would sometimes message back and forth, mainly about racing and life. His love for his family and son Chris were undeniable. I learned Karl would sacrifice so others had (mainly a place on a starting line). He’d do anything to see his son happy and all the payment he needed was smiles in return. One time he messaged me and said “hey, are you racin’ this weekend?” I replied that I was not gonna make it due to not having a part in time. The big fella said (and excuse my language) “if you don’t bring your ass and come to my trailer we are gonna have a problem !” I went and saw him and as promised he had a spare of what I needed. He walked back with me, drank a beer, and helped me install the cable. The man wouldn’t take a dime. So thanks Karl, thanks again. Being a good person will be carried on by many as return payment.
